he Code for sustainable homes  is intended to show the future direction of Building Regulations and provide greater regulatory certainty for the home building industry.  The Code is intended as a single national standard and is closely linked to Building Regulations and aims to drive continuous improvement and innovation in the design and construction of sustainable homes.

The Code measures the sustainability of a home against the following design categories, rating the ‘whole home’ as a complete package:
